GT.X Armchair
design Giuseppe Terragni

The GT.X armchair is made on the original project preserved and found in the Giuseppe Terragni Archive. Together with the well-konwn Lariana chair and the Sant’Elia armchair, it represents an example of a seat with a tubular metal structure, a widespread construction technique in the 1930s. However, the pieces designed by Terragni are unique and unmistakable due to the seat detached from the backrest; characteristic that originates both a flexible response of the structure to the movements of the person, and a strong visual impact given by two almost floating volumes.

The armchair is represented together with sideboard as if to indicate its belonging. The two furnishings are parts of a single composition; between them there are bonds of dimensions and proportions. In a house furnished with these elements, a harmony of invisible but at the same time perceptible connections is created.

Sono due macigni, seduta e schienale, come blocchi di cemento…
